a weekend here, a weekday there...

On Sunday night, when I usually do my best drinking, comes the time that every man must reach his best blog.

This Friday was great for me at the Beachcomber. Crummy for Cindy who got busted for plagarism...it was all there in Google. I too borrowed, but I attributed...to the Cambodian Times & to Frontline on my Prach Ly story in the same issue, April Fool's one, in which Cindy borrowed about a half dozen paragraphs about sexual harassment and boring ones too. What possessed her? If you're going to plagarize, at least steal some halfway interesting stuff.

Jay is pissed, but not sure who at. Maybe Liz, maybe Cindy, maybe both. Just hope no one gets fired as I'm afraid might happen. Then, what of the Beachcomber? He mentioned the word firing, referring to his changes that were ignored, and a few bad spell check type typos I found, especially in my Traffic Circle story.

Saturday, I visited a guy named Charles Irvine in Lakewood Village to look at records. Didn't seem like much when he called, but when I got there, after a few false starts: wow!!! I almost blew this one off, but Sylvia, thank God, saved the phone number and hit it off with the wife on the phone.

Seems that Mr. Irvine had a table full of mint & great LPs, some Capitol 10" promo box sets I've never in my life seen before. and a great Eddy Arnold pullout RCA 10" LP, againt I've never seen. A wall of 45 books & 78s at the back of the garage, and in the house, an old TV cabinet with two drawers of alphabetized 45s! - all in sleeves, 99 percent country, but a good rockers on Aggie and a few other quasi rockers on Sun & Philips. Nice guy, invested $45 for 26 45s and about 25 LPs...great value. Gave the lead to Petke on Sunday PM.

Sunday, went to Vet's Stadium interviewed some nice people, and found some Capitol salesmen LPs and a few 45s, spent $30 this time, but worth it!!! Spent 2 hours in an impossible parking situation.

Coming out of my cataract fog.

Despite my natural nature, I tried to do a good thing today. Dave G had already told me that Ken B. had left KCLU as PM announcer to KCRW - better station, better gig, better pay (probably) and closer to home. Jim P. has a friend in the mtns, an announcer type who needs a gig - was at KVCR until they went right wing - and I suggested KCLU as Ken had just left the station. Jim will give him the info, maybe it'll pay off.
